Blue Raspberry

I had a plan. It went like this.

I like knitting socks. I have a lot of sock yarn already. If I knit a pair of socks every month I will use up my backlog of sock yarn and have 12 pairs of hand-knitted socks by the end of the year.

Thank goodness I didn’t make it an official resolution. I’ve realised that there’s no way I will manage that unless I learn to knit significantly faster! That’s not going to stop me experimenting with dyeing my own sock yarns though.

Dividing my skein

Following my food colouring dyeing experiment, I planned to dye my first skein of sock yarn. Using my new digital yarn scales(!) I divided the 100 g skein into two equal skeins.

Two socks worth of yarn

I tied the skeins at regular intervals then dyed them with my two favourite food dye colours: Claret and Ice Blue. I tried to get a variegated look to the yarn so that hopefully I’ll get pretty tonal socks :)

Pink and blue raspberry, almost good enough to eat!

I’m looking forward to casting on and finding out how they look knitted!
